RedditShield is a Chrome extension that filters Reddit content based on user-defined criteria. This privacy policy explains how the extension handles data.
RedditShield does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. All data processing occurs locally in your browser.
The extension stores the following data locally on your device:
Data is stored using Chrome's Storage API in one of two locations based on your preference:
chrome.storage.local
): Data remains on your device onlychrome.storage.sync
): Data synchronizes across devices signed into the same Chrome accountWhen synchronization is enabled, Chrome handles the sync process according to Google's sync policies. RedditShield does not control or access this synchronization mechanism beyond using Chrome's standard API.
The extension uses your filter data solely to:
No data leaves your browser except through Chrome's built-in sync feature when you enable that option.
The extension requires the following Chrome permissions:
These permissions are used exclusively for the extension's filtering functionality. No data from these permissions is transmitted externally.
RedditShield does not:
All filter data remains within your browser's storage. The extension does not implement additional encryption beyond what Chrome provides for its storage APIs.
You have complete control over your data:
Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data. If sync is enabled, you may need to clear synced data separately through Chrome settings.
Updates to this policy will be posted with a new "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
